CAP Helps Keep the Lights on for the Geothermal Energy Industry
When a compressor manufacturing company in Logan, Utah needed expertise to move some large equipment (oversized piece and some associated crates) to Hawaii for a Geothermal Production Plant, they called CAP Logistics, their shipping partner. This company has depended on CAP for handling freight within the USA as well as international locations like Bangladesh. The president of this company has supported CAP in having us provide consulting on things like INCOTERMS and general shipping requirements, documents, etc to help keep them educated. He has advised his team to embrace CAP as if we were their traffic manager down the hall. They made this a habit and we are involved in most of their shipping situations for advice and transportation when their customer is not handling the move. As a result of this move and others, they have recommended CAP Logistics to one of their partners that now has us working on a Hawaii project moving goods from multiple origin points in the USA and then delivering to Hawaii. We certainly appreciate the referral, and hope to share more on that upcoming project as well.
This particular move was a sale they made to a Hawaiian company that produces energy from a Geothermal Plant. These oversized parts required us to load in their parking lot (they did not have a dock high to load from), then we moved the parts to a terminal in Los Angeles and the parts were then loaded on a vessel bound for Hawaii. After 2-3 days inland from Utah and then 2-3 days pending the vessel cutoff period, the freight loaded on the ship and sailed with a transit time over the ocean of about 6 days. The freight arrived in Hawaii just after Christmas and following confirmation the customer was in the delivery facility the week prior to New Years, we delivered off of a flatbed to the consignee Dec 30, and it was successfully signed off by the contact we had on record. Our customer was thrilled with the delivery and the quick updates.
This was a good example of how CAP Logistics can help move important freight that isn't quite as urgent (overnight, etc), but when equipment has to be there to meet their customer’s requirements. Geothermal plants can’t be down, and CAP is here to work with both with shippers and end users to keep them up and running before an emergency happens.
